Geek Alert
I'm starting to acquire more computer accessories, which scares me, because too many of them reek of geekhood. However, I'm very excited (that alone scares me!) about my new scanner! We won't get into the excuses and rationale that involved the purchase, but I'm happy with it :)

Next Goal: A webcam or whatever it takes to get videoed forms onto Dan Shi's website for students to use as a reference if they are having issues with a particular form, specifically their newer ones! ....Advice....?

Sickening
...and I quote from this article, ""If [citizens] didn't [comply with the militia's orders], they said they would shoot a sibling," said Marine Capt. Peter Tabash, who speaks fluent Arabic. Tabash says a civilian told him Iraqi forces shot a 9-year-old boy because his family refused to cooperate with paramilitary groups."

Disturbing...
My husband seems to have taught our cat how to play fetch.
Iraqi freedom
Has anyone noticed throughout the photos and news stories on CNN that there are common presentations of rejoicing Iraqi's (assumingly happy about the regime crumbling), yet the rest of the Arab Middle East is still protesting and angry about the war? I can't figure out these other obviously opposing Arab country's issues. I would think they just don't like their "own" being involved with war (NOT that I see anybody jumping to their aid), but sometimes I wonder if they truely grasp what the Iraqi's have endured under the regime. One example, sports. I would never get involved in Iraqi sports with this monster in charge!

Another thing I thought of was perhaps the other countries are afraid of the Saddam's family's retailiation to an "unfaithful" fellow Arabic country, but I doubt it since Turkey supported us in the Gulf War, and Saddam seems to have his own troubles to deal with first.

Cooking
Cooking is something that I can all right, but isn't my "favourite" thing to do. It is also extremely annoying to me that my husband can outcook me *growl*. Actually we cook differently. I like the baking and longer baking dishes (lasagna, baked pasta type dishes, while he excels in the Chinese wok and Mexican type food. We'll see how I do tonight for the roleplaying food. I'm making a noodle cassarole with ham and cheese. Kind of plain, but filling. Of course cookies have to be baked, but I think I can do that in my sleep. This is supposed to be a team thing between Eric and I, but I sensed my doing more than 50% of the work, so he helped picked the recipe and did all the prep work, which is a huge time savings. I was actually quite impressed :)

Computer Games
This is a subject of which I knew nothing before I met Eric. However, one of the first visits to his apartment included a view of a computer game in action *surprise*. I didn't reject it at the moment; in fact, I thought it looked interesting. My child/teenage life had been filled with Gameboy, Super Nintendo, and Nintendo 64, of which I currently enjoy...well, at least the Nintendo 64. Computer games, however, were nonexist in my obviously sheltered life *roll eyes*. As some people know, I really enjoy Dungeon Seige, but it does get a little dull with the hacking and slashing. I think I need to try and get through with just one person for a bigger challenge. My party of seven doesn't have many issues since I continually have one wizard on healing hands and the other on healing winds, while the others chop their way through. I need a new game though for diversity. Any suggestions? One thing I know...I do not like the kind of games where I can't see "me". I like seeing all of the characters on the screen.

Ebay Update
You have probably noticed that one of my favourite websites is Ebay if you've looked at my very short favourite website list. I have more, don't worry ;) Anyway, I sell stuff too, so here's some things I'm selling if you or a friend may enjoy something.

The Others (enjoyed watching it, but i wouldn't watch it enough to keep dusting it)
The Silence of the Lambs (scared me shitless...I like to live in my little world of peace, happiness, and less fear)
American Pie 2 (a horrible mistake! i had forgotten to tell Columbia Club that I didn't want it)
Any Given Sunday (please, give me soccer. I hate football.)
The Usual Suspects (don't know about this, Eric had it and it's not been watched since I've known him, so why keep it?)
Chuck Norris - Top Dog (the same reason)
Jackie Chan - Fantasy Mission Force and Master with Cracked Fingers (yes I realize that it's all action and no plot...)
Nursing
I have discovered multiple reasons to never become a nurse. Here just a few...

  • After 6 hours in the hospital waiting on tests, etc., you get very tired.

  • After 6 more hours at home of watching, babying, plumping pillows, and trying to get husband to forget the pain *hopeless* - your efforts are rewarded with a headache.

  • The headaches and suffering culminate into a need for pain killers. So...I try his pain killers thinking it will be stronger. Ummm...yeah, they were stronger.

  • The remainder of the evening is each spouse desperately trying to help each other because one is having a kidney stone, and one overdosed on pain killers and is sick as a dog.

  • Life is returning to normal now! ...at least for me. Eric's still suffering a lot. However, for the reasons above, I don't think the whole nursing bit is cut out for me.

Too many engineer friends!
I realize that I'm starting to act like one now - I have this incredible urge to play a computer game for 6 or 7 hours....particularly Dungeon Seige. I still need to finish those last two chapters of the single player!

Worthless blog
Wotta day!

15 March 2003

Not tired :)...
Today has been such a good day, and it's not even over! Started out well with a good breakfast of my scrambled eggs with cheese and cinnamon rolls, then on to Tae Kwon Do class, which happened to have been a very good one, in my opinion. It was fun, yet we got some good workout and knowledge too. I think this coming test will go well.

The Spring Bug has hit me so bloody hard. I have freshly potted flowers (plants, more plants, and more plants) all around my condo now. Let's just see if I can keep them from dying. Generally, I'm pretty successful, I just need to remember that they have to have water...the only issue I seem to have! Soil, potting, etc. always goes well. I managed to come to an agreement with the upstairs neighbor for a potted plant in the hall, since it's the most dismal hallway next to The Rock. I'm trying to work up to the crabby neighbors so that they will let me go with a front yard flower garden where the supposed landscaping is, but you'd never know it to look at it. Bunch of dirt and scraggly bushes. Ah well, we'll see in April!

Tired...
I am more tired emotionally than physically though. I've been heavily involved with coordinated arrangements for a meeting for all sites from 4 countries in the America's here at Corporate, and having to prepare my own presentation and help the others get their presentations completed since I am the coordinator of a lot of the needed data for risk management. It's been so hard to keep focused with so many directions to go. Then when the stupid meeting comes, (it was vastly important to me a week ago...it's quickly wearing down) I have to attend all of the sessions and go to the evening entertainment. Essentially, no life for three days. This makes me very unhappy and annoyed, but it will pass. However, I am determined to very much enjoy this weekend!!

Annoying frogs...
I just want to know if France is chicken, or exactly what their interest in Iraq's blessed safety is...

Based on their war experience, I would lean toward the fact that they know they suck in military affairs, so they want to stay out of that realm. It's amazing to me that they can't see the big picture though.

Spring is in the air!
I can smell Spring, not wear those miserably heavy coats, and enjoy being outside today!! Yay :) It's supposed to get nicer this week too, I just hope the weather doesn't get fickle on us. I went down to the BMV yesterday to get my license reinstated. I was bitter and frustrated b/c I thought I would have to pay a huge reinstatement fee, so my mood soared as I headed for Circle Centre Mall when I was told that I had no fee since it was not a felony, misdemeanor, or reoccuring incident. Yay again!

Then we went down to Jireh Sports for a tour to see how well Dan Shi Club would fit in. It was very exciting...I believe we have a lot of room for growth there with all of their kids, summer projects, and great facilities. Tonight is LOTR roleplaying (something that I am not good at, but is my first time and is fun so far), then a concert downtown, so am I going to accept that today will be good :)

10 March 2003

My first license suspension experience.
While I was very undisturbed about my license being suspended, other people around me seemed to think it was the end of the world. Given the fact that any accident would be my fault and pulled over while driving would result in an arrest, since I rarely have passengers to drive for me, I finally decide that I must end this. I go to the courthouse and pay it. The snippy battle-ax behind the counter goes in her high-pitched whine, "Now, you know if you drive while under suspension (technically I still was since I had to take the receipt down to BMV and get my license reinstated), you will be arrested." I'm thinking, Oh no, of course not! I walked the 10 miles to make sure that I wasn't driving! Therefore, she comes off with, "Well, I'm going to call the police to make sure you're not driving when you leave the courthouse."

WELL. *dripping disgust* I had a nice long, enjoyable walk before Tae Kwon Do started at ITA. *hmph*
Good Weekend!
All in all, I had an excellent weekend. Kind of sucks to be back in the office, but hey, another weekend to anticipate :) I was most definitely spoiled rotten with shopping, food, help around the house, and the best part, the nail pampering at The Villa. Relax time even got scheduled in there, which is a treat on any given weekend!

06 March 2003

wow.
Either the people in this article are in desperate need of getting out into the world and seeing things, or I need to slow down and enjoy these stupid little things. I can't decide which!
The Innocence of Husbands
I found my birthday week situation very tempting to take advantage of my obviously innocent husband. My first day was a card with a statement that I can have a free hair design, 2nd day was the same thing except it was a manicure, 3rd day was also the same, only this time it's a pedicure. To only red blooded woman, a free set of this automatically means the most expensive manicure/pedicure spa treatment which can range from $100 - $500 in Indianapolis. I look at my favourite place downtown, which has a special manicure/pedicure package including a special dessert and chocolate snack! Should I zap my poor clueless baby for a total $275 or take the more basic package that I know he is more expecting to pay? Hmmmmm....temptation, temptation. Considering the fact that this is only Day 1, 2, and 3, I could have a lot fun, but I'm afraid my guilt would take the best of me when I would see him passed out on the floor when he saw the bill - after the fact, of course. *sigh* I hate my conscience!

So me :)
This comic is says in three simple little panels what the essence of womanhood is on dates for the new millinium!

Birthday Week - Day 2....*snark*
For all of you who does not know what "snark" means, "snark" defines "grump", "growl", etc! I was informed by my husband that I would have to wait until after Tae Kwon Do at Master Crays tonight (since I'll miss any other evening this week) before I'll get Day 2 gift. Of course, my friend Ellen thinks I'm very spoiled rotten because I get a gift a day for a week for my Birthday Week from both my parents and Eric...of course that is true, but I'm not complaining :)

Patriotism
Unreal Article
I can see how a country could turn isolationist and not allow the citizens to say another country's pledge allegience. Example: Iran cannot say Iraq's Pledge of Allegience or Flag's patriotic statement in a formal statement. However, in the world's melting pot of America, not only do I sing England's God Save the Queen to their flag, I happily quote the Pledge of Allegience to the USA flag. What totally is wrong on every level though, is the fact that a country does not allow a flag pledge to it's OWN FLAG! Unreal!
Birthday Week - Day 1
My "Birthday Week" has started :) I had a really productive weekend, with the Dan Shi tourney and organizing a lot of my basement more, cleaning the house, etc. I even got in relax time :) My mood was soaring when I finally fell into bed, and it was met with "1st Day" of my birthday week that Eric is treating me too ... a gift each day for a week before my birthday. This made me even happier! I got a cute card and a gift certificate to any hair salon.
