Blues
My pain tolerance isn't too bad, except for teeth pain. I had a major appointment today that left me dizzy, nauseated, and numb everywhere, making me feel pretty ugly since only one-third of my face was cooperating with me. Fortunately, many many hours of Stargate's season six has been distracting me. Then I can focus on Firefly for my true goal: KODT. Since I'll be in the same shape Monday for another wonderful dental appt, all these goals will hopefully be accomplished :)

Desperate Times
Sometimes the need for sugar is so great that you find yourself chipping dried chocolate out of your glovebox. Fortunately I can say I've never been reduced to that level of desperation, but I think I was close on Tuesday. Saving my peppermint stick in my car for a very special occasion, i.e., for a desperate moment, I was happy to try and forget the miserable class I had just taught and wallow in the joys of peppermint sticks flavoured with lime. Fifteen minutes later and nearly wrecking into a cop later, the plastic refused to come off. Apparantly the heat of the car in the console had caused it to be completely stuck to the candy. This called for war for the plastic. Did you know that you can't even taste the plastic if you just start eating it? There was some annoying aftereffects, such as small pieces of plastic floating in my mouth for awhile, but it was worth it. Perhaps desperate, but I can definitely say I won. It's the little victories that keep you going, right?

Fun's Over
I worked out like crazy for an important tournament in February and to look all nice for Mexico last May. Somehow the lack of working out for a week in May totally blew my resolve to continue my efforts of being all strong and having good endurance. So I'm back to the grindstone as of last night. My abs hurt, my legs hurt, my arms hurt, my back hurts. Why oh why oh why oh why did I stop over the summer?

Excursions
This weekend has two really fun excursions...We leave for the Whitewater Valley Railroad for the Fall Foilage Train in about a half hour to visit historic Metamora, then Sunday is a Kentucky trip to Mammoth Caves for the Violet City Lantern Tour. I'm definitely in the mood for some travel, even if it is local.

Continuation of Fun Week!!
Lady Fun has gone my way this week with far less stress and more enjoyment :) Friday night was the opera open (The Pearl Fishers). It was in French, so I was desperately trying to pick out the French that I recognised. You would think eight years of French would do something for me, but the old addage of "practice what you want to keep" holds true with languages. It was excellent though and I look forward to the remaining three operas for the season. Saturday was the Renaissance Faire, which was pretty good for first year, but I would like to see more vendors. I think part of the problem was they were completely unprepared for such a huge turnout for the first year. Later, Indiana Ice's opening night was enjoyable, but sad in the sense they lost by 2 points. I liked being that close to the ice (right next to it on the floor), but my view was limited thus forcing a conclusion to stay half-way up for seating. Vormeilli was thrilled to get going on her new adventure saving the world and collecting gems Sunday. It was a good combination of combat and town activity. The evening ended with an awesome rendition of Marko and Matthieu's gypsy mood music at the Melody Inn. Although they were just playing cover for Lunar Event, they played an whole hour, keeping the place pretty full of a wide variety of people :) It was the last concert before Matthieu returns to Paris, but I got to hear them twice in two weeks (they also played at KTTS), so I'm happy. Onward to another enjoyable week. I'm really liking this pleasure versus stress thing...so far October's been great :)

LOTR...and gift shoppe rant
Watching each movie of the triology over the space of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each night from 9pm - 12am was exhausting, but well worth it. There were some points of falling asleep for a few moments, but I can say that I survived 90% of it. Thank god they weren't the extended versions for the sake of my staying awake. The exhibition was AMAZING. We got in the midnight opening right after the ROTK's ending and it was SO well worth staying awake. I knew there was a tonne of work involved with creating the costumes and props, but seeing them in real life added a certain awe to the movie production. The gift shoppe, however, COMPLETELY SUCKED. There was so much anger with the complete ugliness of the pewter sculptures of Aragorn, Legalos, etc. Seriously, Bloom and Mortenson should sue. To have my face so poorly representated would be horrifying. The really stupid thing is that if it would have been good, I would have happily forked over the money to add to my collection. I couldn't help but notice the lack of purchasing of the ugly sculptures, which seemed to be the highlight of the gift shoppe. Oh, may I just note the scary light saber Sting sword. Figuring they had the actual collector weapons there, I was looking at Sting. Then one of the customers picked it up (a little too easily thus giving me the impression that is was ...gasp... plastic!?!) and flicked it. Yes, yes it did. It flicked to blue. It's a freaking light saber! How could they take the greatness of Sting and put down to that level? While several more examples of poor marketing existed, I can't talk about it...it's too upsetting.

Recovery
These last two weeks have been insane with stress and exhaustion in preparations for Kick to the Stars, BUT, it was an awesome success with $2100 profit for our after school program children's uniforms, gear and tournament registration fees. So it's a wonderful relief that it 1) went well socially, and 2) went well financially. My form of recovery is complete fun...yesterday, tonight and tomorrow is one of the LOTR movies in order at the IMAX downtown, complete with midnight showing Wednesday of the movie exhibit. May I say right now that the gift shop could have Eric's paycheck in serious jeopardy ;) The opera is Friday, then Ren Faire and hockey Saturday, and AU at Fiddy's Sunday! Let's note that the ONLY stressful item this week involves teaching all day Wednesday, but that's every Wednesday, so I just accept that as normal. Actually, the rest of October is looking really awesome as far as doing fun things...busy...but FUN busy...which is important!
