from bad to worse
This first sign of a very grumpy day has something to do with snow freakin' COVERING my fresh blooming daffadils. I don't mind a little snow under my daffy's (very photogenic), but covering?!? S-o-m-e-b--o-d-y missed the memo that winter is over.
The second very very bad sign was my attempts to settle down to do some work, when ABC flashes "special report" by the President. I'm pretty sure that he skipped Speech in High School. I do have to give him some kudo's for taking on some extremely difficult questions, but I still had to cringe through the sloppy English. That will give anybody a headache, of which I now have. Thank you, President Bush.
The good news is a class cancellation on the far West side, so I have a little more time to myself today.
2-1. Negativity is ahead by one.

Panic Zone
31 pair.
In a frenzy of stupidity, I had decided that I should have a more efficient approach to my shoes. Owning over 40 pair, I had reasoned that even with my trading shoes out for the appropriate season, I wasn't wearing most of my shoes. That insane bit of thinking led me to pitch nine pairs of shoes!
As you can see by the picture, my spring/summer season shoes are now down to only two shelves and 21 pairs of shoes/sandals...that includes the golf shoes, which are obviously limited in use. This of course was immediately remedied by a trip to the shoe store and the purchase of two new pair of sandals.
What the hell was I thinking? Pitching nine pairs of shoes? That's like...rejecting your own or something.

Birthday
I wasn't that excited about my birthday because I am now on the official countdown for the 30th year of my life. 3...2...1... Dear God. I did get some encouragement from some friends Thursday evening though. I went out to the ever wonderful half-off martini night with Dottie to Scholar's Inn, then down to the Chatterbox. It was heartening to note that people kept asking, "so is it your 21st?" when I was introduced as a birthday girl. I would then explain that occurred six years ago, and that I was slightly depressed about it, but the encouraging responses were that "27 is just as fun, only not as stupid". With that thought, I'll press forward; making the most of each moment :)

Oscars!
If you ask Ellen, the Oscars is the single most important event, possibly only bested by Christmas, but that's unlikely. I did find it funny that the Indpls paper noted that thowing Oscar parties is a recent rage, when she has been throwing Oscar parties for ...9 years...? 8 years...? Well, the Indy Film Fest threw together a nice red carpet event at Cinema Grill so we could watch it on the big screen...which was very cool, despite some anger that they replaced part of the red carpet hour with short film that was up for an Oscar. Overall, I would give Indy Film Fest kudo's, with a suggestion to replace their MC and get better raffle prizes :)
