The Best Holiday...
...is of course, Halloween! Let's review the pros.

Costumes are fun.
No obligations to families.
Fun parties are always to be found.
Orange is it's dominate colour.
The holiday stems from ancient Celtic tradition, which is cool historically.

I know there's more, but I can't think of any right now. The sad part was that a lot of people couldn't make it to my party due to travelling, which is understandable, but unhappy. It was still fun...around 15 people scattered throughout the evening, although not enough for the amazing Scavenger Hunt. I'm saving the coolness of that game for next year :) We could have done it with 15 people, but we needed them there at the same time.

The costumes were awesome though! My costume was probably the cheesiest (pregnant Catholic school girl)...and I have to note, when you see two years in a row with somebody seriously committing to a hair change (half of hair shaved, and now a 7 year beard gone), you have to be impressed with something. I'm not sure what, but that's pretty cool.

UN-changing Perspectives
Growing up, did you ever live or spend a lot of time near a resort that you loved but never got the opportunity or need to stay there? It's really funny to see how reality changes with time, but perspectives don't always change. Returning for a visit to Michigan this time of year is always nice, especially given that "my" part of MI is stunningly beautiful in the Autumn/Winter - but the exciting part is that we get to stay the night at Shanty Creek...a ski resort between the lakefront and Bellaire. Homes of family scattered about the area resulted in us staying with family as a child, but it hit me for the first time today that we could stay at the resort. No! You don't have to stay with family every time you go to an area of the country where you have a bunch of family! I'm just struck by the irony that we probably all were raised around some extremely cool things that we've never experienced simply because "it's close to home".

Vampire Bitten?
My actions would have you guessing that. I have successfully not left the top floor of our condo for two days (Fortunately, my office is up here too). The windows are covered with dark sheets. No lights on whatsoever. A growing fear of having the sun hit my face, but going out at night. While you may look for marks around my neck, I can happily say my migraine is gone, and I think for good - at least for this week. Even better, my neurologist said there are some treatment plans out there despite Baby's insistant that I currently get NO pain relief. I had to just stare in shock and wonderment at my OB's stating that Tylenol is really my limit. But then I don't think that I told him that I was diagnosed with complicated migraines, thus he was probably just putting it down to Baby headaches. Let's hope the OB agrees with the neurologist (doctors actually communicating!) because I can't take this much more. To be quite honest, it never even struck me to ring any doctor about these migraines, as I lay in bed wanting to scream but hurting too much to take pleasure in even a simple outburst of emotion. Fortunately, I have a husband with common sense, suggesting I at least tell the neurologist ;)

It's Pumpkin Month!
Granted pumpkins are continuous throughout the Fall, but October is a very special month because you get a whole month to decorate and prepare for the greatest holiday of the year: Halloween. Yes, above Christmas. I love Christmas, but there's some levels of stress in that holiday that Halloween happily leaves out, mostly because you get to wear costumes and one of my absolute FAVOURITE colours is orange.

The wonderful world of Fall was kicked off with Carmen on Friday. Indy Opera has definitely invested time and money in this season's productions. The rest of the weekend was dedicated to converting the home into Fall decor :)
