Being Sick

While I would define the conference last week as a simply awesome experience, it is possible that eating and sleeping more would have been wise. Also, rushing straight into work travel on Monday when I could feel my body starting to collapse from under me was not a good plan. However, it was a committed plan and several things were riding on that particular trip, so off I went.

Fast forward to return home.

Very swollen glands
Tears in eyes to swallow
Extreme aching everywhere
Weakness / shaking
Headache

There may have been a lack of food and anything to drink for long enough time to exacerbate all symptoms.

This lead to a complete nightmare for the friend taking care of me while Eric was on his own business trip.

Him: You need to get food in you, let's try this lentil soup.

Me: It tastes disgusting. You got it from a box, didn't you.

Him: *puts soup aside* You wouldn't even consider chicken soup, would you.

Me: I eat my dad's. He roasts the chicken first.

Him: Right, well, I was thinking of something slightly more urgent.

The good news is that he did succeed in finding the right combination of food and drink to get me out of what was quickly becoming delirium. Then he discovered the horrors of my being well enough to be pretty coherent while sick enough to not being able to take care of myself.

Me: I think I need something cold. (This was not terribly long after I completely shot him down for considering my typical favourite frozen cherry or blueberry treat.)

Him: *brings up fresh blueberries*

Me: But those aren't frozen!

Him: You said you didn't want frozen!

Me: I don't eat fresh blueberries.

Him: *returns with frozen blueberries*

Me: Those look packaged frozen.

Him: *blinks at me several times*

Me: I only eat blueberries that were in a fresh state and recently frozen. Those have probably been pre-frozen, packaged, and shipped from who knows where. This is PACKAGED frozen, isn't it?????

I do believe he's becoming a man of prayer when it comes to my rapid healing.
