Catching My Breath
Arizona was awesome! If it wasn't so far from England and the East Coast where I love to visit, I would move out there in a heartbeat. Maybe it's all those westerns I read when I was a kid that came to life for me. Regardless, I loved the terrain and openness, although there WAS some fear factor in the lack of large cities. Apparantly Pheonix is the only decently sized city as we visited Yuma, Prescott, Flagstaff, and just outside of Tucson with no visible sign of true civilisation...they were just small places with a general store and bank...or it seemed like that. We drove over 1000 miles in the rental car visiting the Apache and Navajo Reservations, Grand Canyon, California (going through the Chocolate Mountains and sand dunes), then back through Yuma. I couldn't help but notice that AZ is a freakingly huge state. The Grand Canyon's big too, btw. I've been to all of the states on the the east side of the Mississippi many times, but not a whole lot on the west side of the Mississippi, so I was pretty excited to go to new places...and I'm anxious to go to even more new places out there.
