UN-changing Perspectives
Growing up, did you ever live or spend a lot of time near a resort that you loved but never got the opportunity or need to stay there? It's really funny to see how reality changes with time, but perspectives don't always change. Returning for a visit to Michigan this time of year is always nice, especially given that "my" part of MI is stunningly beautiful in the Autumn/Winter - but the exciting part is that we get to stay the night at Shanty Creek...a ski resort between the lakefront and Bellaire. Homes of family scattered about the area resulted in us staying with family as a child, but it hit me for the first time today that we could stay at the resort. No! You don't have to stay with family every time you go to an area of the country where you have a bunch of family! I'm just struck by the irony that we probably all were raised around some extremely cool things that we've never experienced simply because "it's close to home".
